Large Basin, 32 cm

A wide, shallow basin for washing fruit, soaking beans, holding a whole batch of dumplings or serving a crowd. It is also the one people end up using in the garden.

At 32 cm it will not fit in every dishwasher. Measure the lower rack before you order if that matters to you.

Every piece is pressed from one sheet of steel and coated in glass enamel fired at around 800 °C, so no two are identical: expect a dark speck or two at the rim edge, slight waves in the glaze and the odd pinhole. Those are part of how enamel is made, not faults.

Specification

• Colour: Cobalt blue outside, white inside, white rim
• Size: 32 cm across, 10 cm deep (approx.)
• Capacity: About 5 litres
• Weight: About 780 g
• Material: pressed carbon steel, glass enamel inside and out, rolled and enamelled rim
• Oven-safe; fine over a low gas flame to warm food through. Not for the microwave

Care

Dishwasher-safe, though washing by hand keeps the gloss longer. Dry it rather than leaving it to drain if the rim has taken a knock: where enamel chips, the steel underneath can rust. Not for the microwave. More on the Care & Materials page.
